52 Verses to Guide Your Bible Study

So here we are, three weeks into the new year. While I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, I do believe that a small habit made in January can result in a big change come December. Here are 52 Bible verses that are meant to guide you along a Bible study. These are not comprehensive or meant to be “better” than any other scripture, rather they are meant for you to memorize one each week and reflect on its meaning – store away for quick recall during life’s many trying moments. Most importantly, go and read the context of each verse in your Bible study. Most of these are short verses for quick reference and future study. Some are longer because context is more than just words. I’ve purposely only included the chapter of the book where these verses can be found in order to motivate you to go find them, and study for yourself!

  1. Genesis 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… so God created man in His own image.
  2. Genesis 3 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil”

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.
  43. Ephesians 6 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
  44. Philippians 4 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
  45. Colossians 3 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
